The Dark Side of the Moon Is Always Dark

The far side of the Moon gets exactly as much sunlight as the side we see. The Moon is tidally locked to Earth, meaning it spins once for every orbit, so the same face always points at us and the other face always points away. 'Always away' is not 'always dark'. As the Moon goes through its phases, sunlight sweeps across both sides; in fact during a new moon, when the near side facing us is dark, the far side is fully lit. The Chinese Chang'e 4 mission landed on that far side in 2019, in daylight. The correct term is the 'far side', not the dark side. It is hidden from us, not from the Sun. The only thing dark about it is how little we get to look at it.
