✗ The myth everyone repeats
Eating foods high in cholesterol, like shrimp and egg yolks, will directly increase your blood cholesterol levels.
✓ What is actually true
The body produces cholesterol based on internal needs and regulates absorption. For most people, dietary cholesterol has minimal effect on blood cholesterol, which is more influenced by saturated fat, trans fat, genetics, and overall calorie intake. Only about 25-30% of blood cholesterol comes from diet; the rest is synthesised by the liver.
